"My workshops are meant to provide all photographers the opportunity to figure out what they want to say with their camera rather than just how to use their camera. I find that difference can be very important to establishing an identity for the work and the photographer."
Michael Levin is pleased to announce that he will be conducting another series of his successful photography workshops focused on providing serious photographers practical advice for creating stronger, more evocative photographs.
Hosted in seaside towns around the globe, this full weekend programme is a unique opportunity for participants to work closely with the award-winning photographer. Mr. Levin will discuss the skills and steps to achieving exceptional images and the process of publishing, exhibiting and selling them.
Limited to only 15 participants to allow for the most personal interaction and discussion, Mr. Levin’s workshops are intended for photographers already familiar with the techniques of long-exposure photography but keen to take their work to the next level. Participants gain personal behind-the-scene information on how Mr. Levin found, composed and captured some of his most popular images, including a rare look at several of his contact prints. Mr Levin will go into detail about the processes used to create the final images.
The two-day programme also includes a field shoot to a scenic waterfront area near the host city for a practical discussion of what makes for a great photograph and critical advice on what to include or avoid when composing an image. Mr. Levin will work with each participant personally as they proceed through the shoot.
Significant time will also be reserved for one on one portfolio reviews with useful suggestions on what is working and what needs improvement. The atmosphere for these sessions is friendly and supportive with the goal being to motivate participants to strive for the highest standards in their work.
The workshops are also unique in providing valuable information on the business side of fine art photography. The challenge of getting your photographs published, exhibited and sold is discussed in detail as Mr. Levin talks of his successful experiences approaching art galleries, juried competitions, magazine editors and book publishers.
Mr. Levin works solely as a fine art photographer and has extensive gallery representation, numerous international awards and his photographs have been featured in many publications. The workshops provide an intimate opportunity to question and understand what it takes to be a successful artist.
"Michael's knowledge and enthusiasm throughout the workshop has really helped me improve my own photography, along with giving me an added dimension on how I now view my own work."
~ Rob Cherry, UK
"The Brighton workshop, including a one-to-one portfolio review, has been an extraordinary experience since Michael Levin is not only willing to answer every question you could possibly have about his photographic work but also encourages and helps you to elevate your own..."
~ Dorthe Peperkorn, Germany
